CAMI (Coated Abrasive Manufacturers Institute) is the traditional US standard. FEPA (Federation of European Producers of Abrasives) is the international standard, designated with a 'P' prefix.
For coarse grit they match closely, but fine grades diverge significantly (e.g., CAMI 400 has much larger particles than FEPA P800, which actually has a smaller micron size). Always look up absolute Micron ratings when doing high-grit polishing or fine grain sanding.
